Overview

Beat the Scout is a game platform which operates similar to a stock market, allowing

  • users (known as "Members") to
  • buy Shares in a Player (i.e. English Premiership Footballers) using
  • Coins (a loot currency specific to Beat the Scout)

The objective and skill is to buy Shares in a Player that other Members then buy. As Shares are bought in a player the Share price will increase, thus your Shares are more valuable. Whilst you hold Shares in a Player, you may have the option of cashing out your Shares at any time by selling those Shares (for either a ¢coin profit or a loss, as further explained below).

Buying and selling Coins (Deposits and Withdrawals)

The loot current of this game is called 'Coins' (¢). These can be purchased using most currencies, the rate is ¢1 = GB£1.

FREEPLAY mode only

In this mode you can only deposit (or buy Coins). You can't withdraw or sell your Coins.

REALPLAY mode only

At any time you can sell all your Shares and withdraw all or some of your loot into your preferred currency.

Buying Shares

We publish a Buy Price at which you may instantly buy Shares in a Player ("Buy Price") using the game currency, Coins (¢). The Buy Price is calculated based on the number of Shares previously bought in the Player. For every 100 Shares purchased the price increases by ¢0.01 and for every 100 Shares sold the Player price decreases by ¢0.01.

You are limited in buying 100 Shares every 60 seconds but you can buy as many Shares in a Player as you wish, provided you have sufficient Coins in your account. Share purchases are shown in your Squad. We will deduct the Coins from your Beat the Scout account balance. Beat the Scout charge a commission for this transaction which is deducted from your Coin balance at the time the Shares are purchased.

Selling Shares

You can cash out by Selling your Shares (for either more or less than you originally paid for the Shares). You can do this by going to the Player page and selecting the amount of Shares you want to sell and then clicking ‘Sell'. We will deposit the Coins into your Beat the Scout Account balance immediately, subject to charging our standard commission.

Spread: The difference between the Buy Price and the Sell Price is called the 'Spread'. The Spread is set at 2%.

Squad

Your Shares are displayed in a section of your account known as your 'Squad', which shows the number of Shares you currently hold in Players.

Squad: displays the total value of Shares in your Squad.

PLEASE BE AWARE, your Squad value may increase or decrease from the amount you originally paid when purchasing the Shares in your Squad.

Games

Whilst you hold valid Shares in a Player, you have the chance to join Games. These offer prizes based on your performance in that Game.

Payment of Prizes

Prizes are paid in accordance with the Prize values detail in each game. If not stated in the game, they will be paid out at the "Pay Out Time" - typically between 09:00am and 11:00am GMT on the day immediately following the day on which the applicable Game ends.

Currently there are a selection of Games for Member, including ...

  • Bazooka Boy - who scores the most
  • Dirty Bastard! - who fouls the most
  • Mr Scrooge - who saves the most

Players

There are currently over 100 English Premiership footballers listed on the Beat the Scout. Many more to follow.

Share Period

A Share lasts for as long as you are an Active Member of the Game (See Terms and conditions).

Share Issuance and Price Curve

In order to create a market, Beat the Scout sells Shares:

  • to the market at New Player releases; and
  • at other times subject to certain limits (set out below).

There is no limit on the amount of Shares that can be issued for a Player. On New Player releases, Beat the Scout will auction Shares depending on the Players standing in their sport as judged by the Game owners.

New players

We introduce new Players onto Beat the Scout from time to time, which is referred to as an New Players offering.

Members can request players to be added to the market via email to our Customer Support team at contactus@beatthescout.com or by using the Beat the Scout form.

We will announce New player releases on the Beat the Scout Notification and Twitter feed giving at least 1 days notice. These New Player releases will be published on Beat the Scout at a price at our discretion based on our pricing, analysis and demand for similar Players.

Your Transaction History

A time-stamped record of your Coins transfers in and out of the Game are stored in the 'Transaction History' of your Account (each transaction may be archived after 3 months).

Removal of Players from the platform

Retirement

If a Player retires from the game (including through injury) then

  • All Shares on that Player will immediately become suspended, meaning Shares in that Player will no longer be available. If there is a delay in suspending the Player, we will remove that Player on a best efforts basis; and
  • We reserve the right to suspend Sell activity from the start of the day of the announcement.
  • After such time, we will remove the Player from the platform and all open Shares on that Player will immediately expire – meaning you will lose the initial stake you paid for the Shares, any increase in price since you bought those Shares, and the right to benefit from any prizes where that Player is selected for a Game(s). You will not be able to Buy any more Shares in that Player.

If a Player that was removed from the platform on the basis of retirement subsequently comes out of retirement to play in an Eligible Competition, we reserve the right to re-release that Player at a new Buy Price. However, previously expired Shares will not be reinstated, and you will be required to purchase new Shares.

Other circumstances

We reserve the right to remove a Player from Beat the Scout in other circumstances, including, but not limited to, where a Player:

  • Dies
  • Is declared missing for over 3 weeks
  • Is sentenced or committed to prison
  • Does not play any competitive games or matches within our eligible leagues or otherwise for a full calendar year - this is at the full discretion of Beat the Scout
  • Becomes a non playing member of staff

Where any of the above events occur, we reserve the right to suspend Sell and trading immediately in respect of the affected Player and we will endeavour to remove that Player from the platform within 48 hours (or such other timeframe as we in our sole discretion decide is appropriate).

When the Player is removed from the platform, all Shares on that Player will immediately expire – meaning you will lose the initial Coins you paid for the Shares, any increase in price since you bought those Shares, and the right to benefit from any prizes where that Player is selected for a Game(s). You will not be able to buy any further Shares on that Player.

Integrity

To preserve the integrity of Beat the Scout, some behaviours are subject to monitoring and may have consequences. These include but are not limited to:

  • Price manipulation: Manipulation of the market by spoofing or otherwise manipulating Share Price through Buy and Sell, either independently or simultaneously, for your own or other Traders' unfair benefit is forbidden and may be deemed a material breach of our Terms and conditions.
  • Bonus Abuse, Fraud and Money Laundering: Consistent or highly correlated matching of your trading activity against other Members displaying fraudulent behaviour or characteristics, customers displaying a high risk of money laundering or customers redeeming promotions may be deemed a material breach of our Terms and conditions.
  • Self-trading: It is not allowed to transact against your own account. In the case that you sell against your own purchases, or buy against your own sales, your trade will be rejected.

Circumventing such systematic controls with coordinated trading with other Members shall be deemed a material breach of our Terms and conditions.

Market Suspension and Circuit Breakers

From time to time, in the case of scheduled announcements, scheduled or emergency maintenance, technical issues, widespread or regional connectivity issues, major market events or other Force Majeure events (as defined in our Terms and conditions), Beat the Scout may suspend individual Player markets or all markets. In times of extreme market or player volatility, we may introduce circuit breakers on the market or on individual players (or a series of players).

During a market suspension or circuit breaker, you will be unable to Buy or Sell during such time. Sometimes it may take some time for this status to change and not all Members experience the same restrictions immediately.

Beat the Scout will announce scheduled suspension of all markets by email and on our Twitter with 1 calendar day's notice. Non-scheduled suspensions or circuit breakers will be communicated on our Game and the Twitter feed. Suspensions of an individual Player market may not be announced. When a market is suspended the user will be able to see prices but will receive a message when they attempt to make a trading transaction.

Commissions

We have structured the commissions on the purchase and sale of Shares to try and keep this Game enjoyable for all and simple to understand. To this end the commissions on the buying and selling of Shares is 2%.
